October 2026: Memory and Motion

Memory & Motion brings together two painters whose work approaches experience from very different directions. Christie Scheele reduces the landscape to its essentials using softened horizons, atmosphere, light and color, creating images that seem suspended in time–somewhere between observation and memory. William Hooper’s figures are more restless, emerging, dissolving and shifting through layers of color and expressive paint as the image develops. While their subjects differ, both artists share a deep trust in the expressive power of paint itself. Together, their work moves between stillness and motion, demonstrating how paint can transform the familiar into something unexpected, immediate and deeply felt.
