Abstraction 2.0: March 2025
Featuring Michael Howard, Christine Westergaard & Julie Sevilla Drake.
March at Museo brings together a unique group of artists that explore color, pattern and form through their own individual mediums. Whidbey Island artist Michael Howard’s sophisticated and lively paintings; Anacortes’ Julie Sevilla Drake’s bold and exuberant hand dyed quilts; and Seattle’s Christine Westergaard’s playful patterned ceramics create a delightfully abstract presentation.
Stories We Tell: February 2025
Featuring Lauren Boilini, Amanda Blake, Christie West, Keke Cribbs and jewelry by Denise Barr
February brought a profusion of color, pattern and story to Museo. Introducing Lauren Boilini and Amanda Blake and welcoming Christie West and Keke Cribbs. These PNW artists create rich narrative works, bringing to life their subject matter with vibrant color palettes and elaborate patterns. Each artist tells their own beautiful story; shown together it’s an evocative tale.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we also featured the beautiful jewelry of local artist Denise Barr. Denise’s finely crafted one-of-a-kind pieces and Museo’s other jewelry selections await your discovery.
Conversations by Laura Hudson: January Pop-up 2025
In January we had a two-week pop-up show featuring a selection of Laura Hudson’s large scale paintings from her post graduate installation “On Common Ground.” These works provide insight into Laura’s figurative foundations and shed light on her current body of work.
Holiday Gift Show: December 2024
Our Annual Holiday Gift Show returned for December. The gallery had works from our beloved gallery artists, as well as new introductions. Objects of desire in many styles and price points; including ornaments, jewelry and small gifts.

In November, Museo gave thanks for the lovely art that surrounds us – with a little help from our friends, old and new. Featuring fresh work from new-to-Museo artists alongside beloved gallery artists, all which enrich our lives with their unique perspectives.

Don Fels, Nancy Stentz, Leslie Stoner & Jan Lipetz: October 2024
October welcomed artists Don Fels, Leslie Stoner, Nancy Stentz and Jan Lipetz to Museo. From Fels’ illuminated surfaces, to Stentz’ meditations, from Stoner’s mesmerizing mazes, to Lipetz’s studies of form the October show explores abstraction in all its beauty. Quiet, contemplative, complex and meticulous – it’s a show not to be missed.
Quincy Anderson, Zue Stevenson & Sandi Bransford: September 2024
In September, Museo brought together the work of Quincy Anderson, Zue Stevenson and Sandi Bransford. Quincy’s serene landscapes and Zue’s solitary figurative paintings combined with Sandi’s sensual anthropomorphic sculptures, create a unique and exquisite show.
Pete Jordan, Claudia Pettis & Brian O'Neill: August 2024
August at Museo brought Whidbey’s own Pete Jordan and Claudia Pettis along with Bellingham artist Brian O’Neill. Together, Jordan’s iconic landscapes juxtaposed with Pettis’ new Falcon studies and O’Neill’s raw, architectural ceramics portray a sweeping picture of our beautiful Pacific Northwest – from earth to sky.

In July Museo welcomed the work of painters Michael Dickter and Faith Scott Jessup and ceramicists Cara Jung and Susan Mattson. View how each artist explores the natural world through shape, color and texture.
Bergen Rose & Evelyn Woods: June 2024
June brought two Whidbey Island female artists who explore expression through both painting and clay: Bergen Rose and Evelyn Woods. Delight in the juxtaposition between Evelyn’s realistic, detailed paintings and clay sculptures and Bergen’s abstract landscapes and ceramic pieces.
Joanne Bohannon, Kris Ekstrand, Dewey Schurman: May 2024
May at Museo welcomed artists Kris Ekstrand, Joanne Bohannon & Dewey Schurman. This show brought together their passion for the natural world through a wide range of mediums by showcasing Ekstrand’s detailed charcoal nest drawings, unique monotype and painted landscapes; Bohannon’s quirky, mixed-media constructions; and Schurman’s colorful, stylized scenes.

March at Museo brought Seattle artists Elizabeth Bruno and Bruce Hale, along with ceramicist Christine Westergaard. Together their work weaves a vibrant story through pattern, color and imagery.
ABSTRACTION Feat. Nino Yuniardi: February 2024
In February we welcomed ABSTRACTION – an exhibit featuring new work by Seattle painter Nino Yuniardi. Nino fuses bravura brushwork with elegant design and color choices, resulting in paintings that are rich and dynamic.
The show includes Museo gallery artists Laura Viola Preciado, Michael Howard, Don Fels, Robert Jessup and Dion Zwirner, along with Whidbey Island guest artist Nancy Stentz and David Harto. Visit the gallery and be enveloped by the visual poetry, the meditations on color, line, form that this work evokes.

Claudia Pettis, Michael Scott & Susan Melrath: September 2023
September brings in a seasonal transition and with it two beloved local artists, Claudia Pettis and Michael Scott, and in her first show at Museo, Susan Melrath. Together, the September show feels like a welcome homecoming.
With her painterly depth and sensitivity, Claudia's sheep portraits feel like a fresh take on the old world masters. By the same token, Michael’s skillful manipulation of a burl breathes another life into each wood piece of his carved and turned sculptures. Susan's architectural abstractions of rural structures – with her bold use of color and activated surfaces – offer a refreshing perspective on familiar subjects.
Pete Jordan, Karen Abel, and Skip Smith: August 2023
August brings some of our near and dearest: Pete Jordan, Karen Abel and Skip Smith, all portraying the Pacific Northwest from their own unique perspective. These three artists are a wonderful representation of the strong Whidbey art community and are longtime Museo supporters – and good friends. We are proud to be showing these distinguished artists next month at Museo.
