BIOGRAPHY

Alexandra Boyden creates abstract landscapes. Growing up with both an artist mother who taught her to notice, and a father who embraced simplicity, augmented her traditional art education. A love of travel and hiking continue to feed her playfully, imaginative and intuitive approach. Alex’s art has been represented by galleries, from coast to coast, for over 20 years.

STATEMENT

Always interested in art, Alex worked in galleries, art museums and after the Rhode Island School of Design, as an exhibit designer with the Boston Children's Museum. The decision to focus on painting came after a trip to Antarctica with her adventurous grandmother. This other worldly landscape inspired her to document the experience through art, with the South Pole as the first subject. 

Now, other landscapes, both real and imagined, are stepping stones towards abstraction. Inspiration comes from places lived, traveled, or hiked. Often working in series, Alex explores the possibilities. Experimenting with color and a more intuitive approach, results in a sense of looseness and freedom. Each piece is a new adventure, aimed to create images equally beautiful to their origins, but with a newfound spirit.
