ABOUT THE ARTIST
statement
Cara Jung is a Pacific Northwest ceramic artist whose work centers on organic form, tactile surface and the quiet, expressive qualities of clay. Working primarily in stoneware, she creates handbuilt vessels and sculptural pieces that echo botanical shapes, soft curves and the subtle irregularities found in nature. Her work is recognized for its balance of simplicity and detail, with surfaces that often feature delicate texture, gentle carving or layered slips.
Jung’s ceramics have been exhibited throughout the region and are held in private collections across the country. With a background in both ceramics and design, she brings a refined sensitivity to proportion, form and material. Her process is slow and intuitive, allowing each piece to develop through the physical conversation between hand and clay.
