Artist Statement
Clay allows me to explore ideas through touch, texture and form. I am drawn to organic shapes and the quiet structures found in the natural world, and much of my work begins with simple gestures that evolve into more complex forms. Handbuilding gives me the freedom to work intuitively, responding to the clay as it shifts and changes in my hands.
Surface is an important part of my process. Through carving, layering and glazing, I work to create depth and subtle variation. These surfaces reflect the passage of time and the unpredictability of nature. Whether creating a functional vessel or a sculptural piece, my intention is always the same: to make work that feels alive, grounded and connected to the landscapes that inspire me.
